Resident feedback wanted on my performance
The new public forum trial will require a longer examination to determine the council's modus operandi and transparency.
Comments published from council director Ms Marissa Racomelara and Administrator Mr Rik Hart cannot be verified under the existing trial conditions.
For example, Mr Hart urges residents to provide feedback "throughout this trial period".
There will be many theories based on trial number one, as I was the only registered speaker.
Director Racomelara's comment that members can comment on "matters presented" at an ordinary council meeting will be challenged in the lead-up to the next trial when I request to speak on a matter not included in the agenda.
I will only know the council's response after the meeting on June 26 and then comment on the process.
What is the purpose of exhibiting a draft updated policy during the trial?
This is exactly the reverse to accepted process.
I am more than curious to test the council's resolve when dealing with matters not on the agenda, and question the process that places agenda items, regardless of their importance, against the interests of residents.
Is this public consultation or another change to deceive the public?
We will know the answers not necessarily from senior council officers but from editions of the Peninsula News and interested residents.
It was fortunate I was not bedridden with Covid on the night of the first trial.
Otherwise, there would have been many gloomy faces in the council chambers.
I am now more than an activist. I am a celebrity!
I look forward to the reviews.
