Two Tour de Central Coast events to start at Woy Woy
Central Coast Bicycle Users Group will hold two events from Woy Woy this week as part of its Tour de Central Coast series.
On Thursday, June 15, the group will cycle from Fishermen's Wharf to Gosford, starting at 8am.
The 25km ride is expected to take two hours and is described as "an easy ride along the shared path to Gosford and back"
The group will stop for coffee, at a location yet to be decided.
On Saturday, June 17, the group will ride from the railway station to Pie in the Sky cafe at Cowan.
The medium-hard 95km ride is expected to take around six hours, starting at 6:30am, at an average speed of 22-24 kph.
It is described as "a moderate paced ride from Woy Woy to Pie in the Sky cafe Cowan and back, through the picturesque Brisbane Water National Park and over the Hawkesbury River".
"Designed for more experienced riders, we mostly utilise the old Pacific Hwy and include five longish climbs (Kariong, Mooney-Calga, PiTS, Mt.White and Mooney-Somersby)," said ride leader Mr Alan Corven.
"There's nothing too steep, but you'll certainly know you've been up a few hills by the time you get home."
The altitude gain for the ride is 1700 metres.
The ride starts at Woy Woy station near bus stop A or riders may join at Kariong bus stop 40mins after the start time.
Riders are advised to bring water, snacks and money for coffee or a drink at Pie in the Sky or another cafe. They may "opt-out" at Brooklyn for a train home if required.
For both events, riders are asked arrive at least five minutes before start time to sign on.
