Support sought for arboretum projects

The Crommelin Native Arboretum in Pearl Beach is seeking community support to secure grant funding for two projects.

One is for a verandah that would accommodate 50 people for talks or 30 people for workshops.

The other is for a boardwalk and viewing platform to replace the one washed away in the February and March floods last year.

The Arboretum committee said it had discussed a replacement with Central Coast Council staff, but no commitment had been made to replace it.

"Boardwalk construction companies have estimated up to $500,000 including design, engineering, environmental and planning approvals.

"A new design and placement will help resolve equitable access issues in the Arboretum."

The committee has created an online survey to gather community support, which can be found at https://forms.office.com/r/YhjfdcWdnf

"We will hold more detailed consultation with the community as the project progresses."
