Rotary club presents service and excellence awards
The Rotary Club of Woy Woy has recently presented a community service award and four vocational excellence awards.
The community service award was presented to Ms Chris Malloy, while Ms Julie Allen , Mr Adrian Sillence, and Ms Anna and Mr Brett Newcombe were each presented with a vocational excellence award.
"Our first awardee, for vocational excellence, was our very own Julie Allen," said club newsletter editor Ms Sue Tee.
"Julie and so many other front liners go above and beyond every day helping those who are needing emergency assistance.
"This was exasberated during the Covid period where Julie and her counterparts put their own health and well being on the line for those suffering from the unknown with Covid.
"Our next awardees, for vocational excellence, were Brett and Anna Newcombe.
"Together they have been distributing food to over 200 families in need a week and a number of farmers for the past three years.
"During this time, working 363 days a year, up to 14 hours a day, they have only had seven days off.
"The love and care they put in to each box of food and person they are supporting is of the highest quality and greatly received by the community."
"Another community service was awarded to Ms Chris Molloy, a retired Peninsula Hairdresser who wanted to give back to the community.
"She volunteers at Mary Macs fortnightly, giving haircuts to those who need some care and dignity.
"She loves being able to make a difference.
"The final vocational excellence awardee was Adrian Sillence, an employee at That Computer Guy Shop in Ettalong, who goes above and beyond when working on clients computers and other computer-related products.
"Pat Wilson, Adrian's boss, sang his praises and said when Adrian walked into the interview, he knew he was the man he was going to hire and he was definitely the right choice.
"Adrian has a good attitude to customers and quality of service is outstanding.
"Adrian is married with two children, has some medical restrictions but regardless of this travels from Morriset to Ettalong for work three days a week."
