Dr Reid organises women's health forum
A Women's Health Forum was held at Ocean Beach Surf Life Saving Club in Umina Beach on Monday, May 1.
It was organised by Federal Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid.
Among those attending were Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care Ms Ged Kearney and Member for Dobell Ms Emma McBride who is Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention and Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Health.
The forum included health professionals and members of the public and covered a range of health issues.
Those who spoke included Dr Kelly Teagle from Menopause Matters and GP Dr Colette Hourigan, a women's health expert on the Coast.
Dr Reid said he wanted to provide a safe space for women to discuss women's health issues and concerns.
"The Women's Health Forum was an inclusive, safe space for women to come together with the Assistant Ministers and local health professionals to discuss health issues", Dr Reid said.
"The purpose of the forum was to better understand the difficulties being experienced by women and what the Federal Government can do to improve healthcare on the Central Coast", Dr Reid said.
"Discussions covered a range of topics including menopause, the effects of long COVID-19, access to GPs in the region, and ensuring gender-sensitive healthcare on the Central Coast", Dr Reid said.
"The forum was insightful and provided both the Assistant Ministers and I with feedback about how we can improve healthcare and access on the Central Coast", Dr Reid said.
"I will be ensuring this information is given to Health Minister Mr Mark Butler," Dr Reid said.
Dr Reid said he would be hosting further health forums, including a men's health forum.
