Reid takes a tour of Pozieres House

Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid has had a tour of Pozieres House at Peninsula Village last week.

Dr Reid described the wing as "a fantastic new addition to aged care accommodation and services in the region".

He met with Peninsula Village chief executive Mr Colin Osborne.

Mr Osborne has previously called for the skills shortage in aged care to be addressed.

He said skilled staff needed to be attracted back to the industry, augmented with opportunities for skilled migration overseas.

"The longer-term solution must be the development of more aged care specific training and qualification opportunities for registered nurses and care workers," he said last November.

"It is only with the availability of these additional people with appropriate skills that many of the recommendations from the royal commission into aged care can be genuinely and effectively implemented."

Dr Reid said: "The Albanese Labor Government is committed to strengthening and improving aged care across the Central Coast."
