Steps to access support from external providers
Increased opportunities for children to access additional support during school hours has led to Woy Woy South Public School to ask parents to understand the school's requirements.
School principal Mr Matt Barr said that, in recent times, National Disability Insurance Scheme funding had resulted in opportunities for some families to access additional support from external providers.
"This is highly beneficial for our students, but conversely creates a significant addition to our administrative workload.
"The Department of Education asks us to adhere to certain requirements in relation to the delivery of programs by external providers."
He said that parents were asked to attend to follow keys steps.
They should ask the school in writing if the service can be used, and meet with school staff to discuss the details of the service.
"The principal will consider your request, taking in to account the needs of your child, other students and the operations of the school," Mr Barr said.
"The principal lets you know whether or not the provider can deliver their service at the school."
He said the for further information about the support of external providers was available from the school office.
