Parents told of need for Working with Children checks
Volunteering to help at your local school is not as easy as it once was.
All volunteers must complete a Working with Children Check declaration form, parents at Woy Woy South Public School have been told.
They must also provide the school with 100 points of identification by way of a combination of driver's licence, birth certificate, passport, Medicare or credit card or other means.
Even those who already have Working with Children clearances are required to produce the 100 points of identification.
"We are enormously appreciative of the large number of parents who come into our school to volunteer their time whether it be in the canteen, helping with school banking or assisting with an excursion," said school principal Mr Matt Barr.
"However, the school admin staff are required by the Department of Education to sight these ID documents and take photocopies of your identification, to go along with the declaration form.
"Working With Children Check declaration forms can be found in our school office.
"If you need any clarification on this or would like further information, please contact the school office on 4341 1899."
