Ami Williamson and Nerida Curry to perform at folk club
Ami Williamson will be supported by Nerida Cuddy, a singer and songwriter from Canowindra in the NSW Central West, at the next concert of the Troubadour folk club on Saturday, May 25.
Not only is Ami the talented and funny daughter of John Williamson, her grandparents were classical singers who sang for ABC radio from the 1930 to the 1960s, according to folk club president Mr Michael Fine.
"Ami grew up listening to her grandparents sing at home and on stage in musicals and classical oratorio.
"Naturally enough, she pursued classical training as a singer and multi-instrumentalist, graduating from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
"But it was her father's song writing that brought a creativity to the vocal tradition of the Williamson's.
"Ami has enjoyed regular headline engagements at all the major festivals including Port Fairy Folk Festival, Woodford Folk Festival and the National Folk Festival."
Mr Fine said Ami would be supported by Nerida Cuddy, who "captures stories of our time in finely crafted lyrics and emotive melodies".
"Singing from the heart with both a social conscience and a sense of humour. she is an evocative writer whose songs reflect emotional depth, breathing the landscape of rural Australia," he said.
