Half March rainfall falls in last three days

More than half the March rainfall for the Peninsula fell in the last three days of the month.

A total of 142.8mm was recorded for the month, with 76.9mm falling in the last three days, according to Mr Jim Morrison of Umina.

More than one third of the total, 49.7mmm, was recorded on Saturday, March 29.

Rain was recorded on 17 days of the month, with 15 recording more than one millimetre and eight days having more than five millimetres of rain.

The second heaviest fall in one day was 18.0mm recorded on March 4.

The month's total was about five-sixth's of the month's average of 174mm.

Total rainfall for the first quarter of the year was 389.5mm, 13.3 per cent less than the first quarter average of 449mm.

No rain had fallen in April as of last Friday.
