Branch enters CWA group competition
The Woy Woy branch of the Country Women's Association entered the handicraft and cookery competition held by the Association's Northumberland Group on Thursday, March 27, at Central Coast Leagues Club.
The competition saw 13 branches battled it out with cakes, slices, biscuits, jams and pickles galore.
The crafters put their sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlework and many others skills to good use throughout the year to score as many points as possible.
Woy Woy members Ms Pam Clifton came second in five categories for her sultana cake, chocolate butter cake, light fruit cake, coffee sponge and moist apricot roll.
Ms Susie Roberts came second for her peppermint slice.
Ms Di Trowbridge came third for her butter cake.
Ms Margaret Tabone came second for her magic bean cake.
In the juniors section, Jade Spinks came first for decorated cupcakes and the chocolate cake and third for her packet cake.
In the handicraft competition, the branch had three first place winners.
They were Ms Michelle Driscoll with her Sashiko embroidered jacket, Ms Hazel McMenamin with her silver bracelet and Ms Jane Bowtell for her knitted shawl.
They will go to the state final competition in May to be held in Wagga Wagga.
Overall the branch had a score of 672 points for handicraft.
