Third prize in fund-raiser

Wagstaffe resident Ms Ruth Stokes finished third place in the Surf Life Saving Central Coast "Ducks for Bucks" public race on December 7.

She received $1000 as part of her prize.

The fundraising event took place at The Entrance channel as part of the annual Tuggerah Lakes Mardi Gras.

More than 6000 yellow rubber ducks were released into the channel for the annual race to raise money for Surf Life Saving Central Coast and the provision of essential rescue equipment to keep our community safe on local patrolled beaches.

Surf Life Saving Central Coast CEO Mr Chad Griffith said the event raised more than $38,000.

"This is our biggest fundraising event of the year and is a lot of fun whilst raising essential funds to ensure our beaches are patrolled using the latest equipment available."
