Brigade holds training day
Pearl Beach Rural Fire Brigade will be hosting its annual Operational Training Day on Saturday, March 13.
A number of mock fire incidents and scenarios will be staged in the village to prepare crews for a variety of emergencies.
Emergency services including the Rural Fire Service, ambulance, police, fire brigades and Central Coast Rescue and others will be attending the exercise.
The scenarios will include mock house fires, motor vehicle accidents and injured personnel requiring first aid and medical attention.
The exercise is aimed to ensure emergency services are prepared for a variety of incidents while working together cooperatively.
Training officer for Pearl Beach Rural Fire Brigade Mr Tony Marsh said the exercise was a great opportunity for emergency personnel to keep their skill levels up while interacting with other services. The exercise will be an all day event and crews will be kept on their toes with a few surprises thrown in.
"Last years event was a huge success and included explosions in a garden shed, persons being rescued from motor vehicle accidents and toxic fumes from mock house fires," Mr Marsh said.
"This year we have a new set of scenarios to keep emergency services busy."
The training day will commence at 8am and will continue for most of the day.
The exercise was another example of the commitment and dedication from the volunteers of Pearl Beach Rural Fire Brigade, said Mr Marsh.
The brigade has been operating for 54 years.
The Pearl Beach community has been informed of the exercise and can expect to see a variety of emergency vehicles around the village.
Visitors to Pearl Beach should expect minor traffic delays and possible street diversions.
