Holstein announces his team

Cr Chris Holstein has announced his team for the Gosford Council elections on March 27.

Three on the ticket come from the Peninsula, while he is a local businessman himself.

Umina resident Carmen Daniels Perrin is third on the ticket.

Ms Daniels Perrin, a 29-year-old mother of two, formed the Mother Nature's Parent Club Inc and also established the Umina Beach Community Awareness and Referral Centre.

Carmen said that she was passionate about the Peninsula and the need to build a social capital for the youth and elderly.

Adan Kassi of Woy Woy is fifth in the line up.

Adan is a 29-year-old aquatic biologist. He has worked in both the Sydney and National Aquariums and holds a master scuba certificate.

Adan said he was committed to the needs of the local environment and also the needs of the areas youth.

Adan said he understood the need to provide our area's youth with events, festivals and facilities to help promote positive youth involvement in the community.

Ettalong resident Karen Smith is sixth in the Holstein group.

Karen has two young boys and works in community radio.

Karen has experience in marketing and radio production as well as being a radio presenter.

Karen, through her radio experience in news and current affairs, said she was well aware of the issues facing the Gosford City area and its ratepayers.

Karen has also represented Australia in insport soccer.

Claiming strong experience in community welfare, business, culture/arts, sport, family, youth and the environment, Cr Holstein said he believed every member of the team could fulfill the role of a councillor and bring much to the city if elected.

"Each member is an independent thinker and has the ability to work with whoever else is elected, and do so as a team to improve and contribute to the city," he said.

"As independents, the winning of the election is no easy feat compared to the large party machine and well-funded developer tickets."

With only four sitting councillors contesting the election and minimum of six new councillors to be elected, Cr Holstein said he welcomed the injection of new blood, new ideas and a positive change,

"The loss of teamwork and leadership of the last two years has distressed me greatly."

Cr Holstein said that the number of councillors retiring had been among the factors that led to his decision to stand again.

"I believe my experience will be beneficial and will complement the new approach that incoming councillors will bring."
