Irish singer-songwriter to perform at folk club
The Peninsula will soon have a rare opportunity to hear one of Ireland's finest singer-songwriters, according to Troubadour Folk Club president Mr Michael Fine.
The club will host Eleanor McEvoy at the Everglades Country Club on Saturday, March 23.
Her concert in Woy Woy will be her only appearance on the Central Coast, he said.
Her previous visit to Australia was "abruptly terminated with the onset of the pandemic in March 2020".
Mr Fine said Eleanor McEvoy was best known for writing "Only a Woman's Heart".
This was the title track of an anthology album that was "the best-selling album in Irish history".
He said the concert would feature some of her classics, as well as some of the new songs from Eleanor's 16th album "Gimme Some Wine", which has just been launched.
"She's got a whole catalogue of fabulous songs and is celebrated as a performer worldwide."
Eleanor will be supported by Chloe Matharu, an award-winning Scottish singer-songwriter and harpist from the west coast of Scotland.
"She also brings electronic soundscapes to the stage, as heard in her single The Silkie of Sule Skerry, with a three piece band.
"Many of her songs draw on her time in the merchant navy, inspired by the natural world as experienced at sea."
Mr Fine said it would be "a great night featuring two of the stars of contemporary celtic music".
