Liberals choose Holstein

NSW Liberal Leader Peter Debnam has welcomed Chris Holstein as the Liberal Candidate for the new seat of Gosford for the March State election.

New boundaries mean that the Peninsula falls within the Gosford electorate and that the Peninsula represents about 60 per cent of the population within the electorate.

Chris Holstein, who is also a Gosford councillor, will work to "give local residents a voice after 11 years of an arrogant and out-of-touch Labor Government", Mr Debnam said.

Cr Holstein has championed a number of community projects over the past 15 years, including local projects such as the Peninsula Leisure Centre and Woy Woy Little Theatre, said Mr Debnam.

"Chris has lived in Gosford for 37 years and will be a tireless advocate for his community's concerns.

"Chris' heart belongs to the Gosford community.

"He is an outstanding general manager of the Central Coast Community Chest which is a foundation set up by local business with the mandate to raise charitable funds to assist more than 80 local charities.

"Chris is a local businessman and his family members own a number of businesses in Gosford.

"These solid foundations will assist the implementation of Liberal-Nationals Coalition policy initiatives such as payroll tax cuts and reducing WorkCover premiums by 10 per cent, in an effort to kickstart the faltering economy.

"Chris is a patron of Central Coast Girl Guides, Central Coast Surf Life Saving and 2CCC Community Radio.

"As a passionate Rugby League supporter, Chris has always been involved in the game.

"He represented Central Coast Junior Rugby League and is a life member of the Divisional Rugby League and Referees Association.

"Chris' dedication to his family is admirable.

"As a loving husband of 25 years, father to five children and grandfather to two, he always finds time for his family despite his plethora of community commitments.

"Chris Holstein will continue to fight for the residents of Gosford, exposing Labor's neglect of the local area and the decaying state of our hospitals, roads and schools.

"I look forward to Chris Holstein being part of the Liberal team to take the fight up to the Iemma Labor Government over the next 10 months," Mr Debnam said.

Cr Holstein was preselected over former Liberal representative and Peninsula identity Ms Debra Wales.
