Boat ramp works recommended

Gosford Council officers have recommended that a tender for construction for the construction of the Pretty Beach Boat Ramp be accepted.

The project includes the partial removal of the existing boat ramp along with the supply and construction of a precast concrete boat ramp that includes piling, concrete plank connections, sandstone block sea wall and associated works as per design.

The dimensions of the boat ramp are about 25 metres long and five metres wide.

The construction period is 10 weeks and the work is scheduled to commence early June.

Council has also been offered a $200,000 grant from the NSW Maritime Authority under the Waterways Asset Development Program in 2003/2004 and a further grant of $25,000 on a dollar-for-dollar basis from the same program in 2005/2006.

The previous grant was to reconstruct and lengthen the existing boat ramp.

The report stated that $240,000 had been allocated in council's capital works budget to match the $25,000 grant and to complete the construction of the sea wall and finger pontoon.
