Therapist offers infrared treatment

A local massage therapist is now offering infrared treatment as part of her treatments.

Ms Birgit Stech, who operated from the Gnostic Healing Sanctuary in Woy Woy and Look and Feel Good Rejuvenation Spa in, Umina, said that the infrared treatment helped detoxify the body.

"We are being cleansed from the inside out through our skin, the body's largest organ and its sweat process," she said.

"In addition, far-infrared heat dilates the blood vessels which causes increased blood circulation, allowing more oxygen to reach injured areas and reducing muscular aches and pains.

"Therefore the treatment is well combined with a remedial massage for better results."

Ms Stech said that clinical studies had shown that consistent far-infrared sauna use over time increased energy levels, lowered cholesterol; significantly lowered blood pressure; increased blood flow; reduced cellulite, acne and fine wrinkles, resulted in weight loss and rid the body of built-up toxins.

"Our exposure to chemicals is greater than at any time.

"More than 3000 chemicals are added to our food supply," Ms Stech said.

"Today, studies show that most of us have between 400 and 800 chemical residues stored in the fat cells of our bodies.

"When our bodies exceed the limit that we can excrete, we begin to store these toxins, seriously compromising our health, leading to chronic disease."
