Crossing removed

Gosford Council has resolved to remove an "unauthorised temporary pedestrian crossing" in Memorial Ave, Ettalong, at the request of the police.

It will also immediately upgrade the pedestrian crossings in Memorial Ave and Beach St.

The NSW Police Service had asked council's traffic committee to investigate the appropriateness of recently installed No Parking signs provided as part of the redevelopment of the Ettalong Beach War Memorial Club.

A site inspection by the committee indicated that two pedestrian crossings had been installed incorrectly using stop signs prior to the crossings.

An unauthorised temporary pedestrian crossing had also been installed in Memorial Ave.

The committee recommended that the permanent pedestrian crossings in Memorial Ave and Beach St be immediately upgraded in accordance with Austroads Standards.

It also recommended that the unauthorized temporary pedestrian crossing in Memorial Ave be removed.
