Truck driver escapes uninjured

A 48-year-old Woy Woy man, driving of a tip truck carrying an excavator, escaped injury in a colliision which disrupted traffic on the Warringah Freeway for three hours recently.

A small sedan was travelling south on the Warringah Freeway at Crows Nest in lane two of five lanes at about 7.15pm.

Also travelling south in lane three was the tip truck carrying an excavator. The two vehicles collided with the car spinning in front of the truck which braked heavily.

Both vehicles slid along lane three side by side.

The truck tipped sideways onto the car and the excavator fell onto the car.

A 35-year-old Hornsby man driving the car was conveyed to Royal North Shore Hospital with minor injuries and was later released.

The 48-year-old driver of the truck was not injured.

Traffic was disrupted on the freeway for three hours while the collision was investigated and heavy tow trucks were arranged to clear the road.
