Rotary club helps secure historic cottage
The Rotary Club of Brisbane Water, based at Ettalong, has lent a helping hand to secure protective tarps to the storm-damaged roof of the historic Henry Kendall Cottage at West Gosford.
Past president Mr Mitchell Gordon praised the collaborative effort that saw Rotarians from several Rotary clubs come together for the preservation work.
"It was a wonderful team effort," Mr Gordon said.
Members from The Entrance, Gosford and Kincumber clubs joined forces with the Brisbane Water club to tackle the job.
"The Henry Kendall Cottage, a tourist attraction that draws visitors interested in the region's rich heritage, has been temporarily protected while more permanent repairs are undertaken.
"The Brisbane Water Historical Society is currently working through the process of replacing the cottage's traditional shingled roof.
"Tourists can still tour the cottage and discover its historical significance throughout the renovation," said Mr Gordon.
