Local textile artist Ms Carole Douglas will talk about the embroidery traditions of Kutch in north-western India.

The talk will be entitled: In Her Own Voice - Stitch as tradition, identity and livelihood.

Hosted by the Pearl Beach Progress Association, Ms Douglas is described as an artist, writer, educator and "intrepid traveller".

"She has been travelling to Kutch, Gujarat, India, for 25 years where she has worked on several curatorial, educational and cultural projects with local artisans."

Pearl Beach resident Ms Malathi Nagarajan will provide music on the day.

Cost will be $15 with bookings essential on 4344 2319.

A donation to Ms Douglas's Indian charity would be appreciated.
