Empire Bay doctor receives Queens Birthday Honour
A doctor living in Empire Bay has become a Member of the Order of Australia in the Queens Birthday Honours.
Dr Leon Wakefield Clark was awarded the honour for significant service to medical administration, and to healthcare delivery.
Dr Clark was chief medical advisor for ICare NSW between 2016 and 2018, group chief executive officer of Adventist HealthCare between 2012 and 2015, and chief executive officer of Sydney Adventist Hospital from 2002 to 2012.
He has held positions of director of the NSW Clinical Excellence Commission and of the Agency for Clinical Innovation, both since 2014.
He has been chair of Sydney Adventist Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees since 2008.
Dr Clark served as chair of the Australasian Research Institute board from 2003 to 2016 and as chair of the San Foundation between 2008 and 2018.
He was director of Adventist HealthCare from 2012 to 2016 and director of the Medi-Aid Centre Foundation from 2009 to 2015.
Dr Clark was appointed an Honorary Fellow by the University of Sydney in 2016 and received a Vocational Excellence Award from Rotary International in 2014.
