School canteen is a learning facility
The Umina Beach Public School is treating its canteen as a learning facility.
"It teaches children manners, patience (waiting in line) and choices," said canteen co-ordinator Ms Debora Elliott.
"If you are with your child please encourage them to come to the counter on their own.
"The valuable skills they learn is a great start in life."
Ms Elliott also asked parents with surplus fruit from their citrus trees at home to donate it to the canteen.
"We will put them to good use."
