Umina Community Group receives recognition

Umina Community Group has received a certificate to mark the Community Recognition Statement made by Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch about the group in State Parliament in July last year.

The statement was made on July 28 last year, but the certificate was only delivered to the group last week on January 21.

In her statement, Ms Tesch said: "I would like to commend the Umina Community Group for its unwavering commitment to beautifying the Woy Woy Peninsula and more recently the Runway Park on Trafalgar Ave, Umina Beach.

"Umina Community Group has coordinated a series of weeding and mulching works to maintain the Runway Park to ensure it is healthy and looking great for residents and visitors to the park.

"I would also like to commend the assistance the group provides to Central Coast Council in educating the community about correct tree planting methods and where to correctly plant trees.

"I look forward to continuing to support the Umina Community Group and the work they do to improve the Gosford Electorate."

Group secretary Mr Peter Springett said the statement was deserving recognition of the group's devoted and energetic Runway Park team and the Grow Urban Street Tree members "for the great work that they have achieved in our area over the past two years".

He thanked Ms Tesch for her support.
