Rotary club donates backpacks to Umina campus

Woy Woy Rotary Club president Ms Joan Redmond (right) and secretary Ms Annette Karton (left) were pictured on a visit to Umina campus of Brisbane Water Secondary College on January 29.

"They donated new school backpacks for students who may need them," said principal Ms Kerrie O'Heir.

"This is part of a larger program run by Woy Woy Rotary called Good Start."

Ms Redmond said the club purchased the backpacks for the project, which aimed to help disadvantaged students entering the college.

"Our club continues to fund students, 14 to 16 years, to attend the Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment camps.

"We have several students eager to attend the summer camp which this year has been adapted for Covid and will be held on-line over two weekends in February."
