Lions Club 'astounded' by cake sale success
Woy Woy Peninsula Lions Club has sold a near record $11,285 in Christmas cakes and puddings this year, raising $2800 for club projects.
"We were astounded at the success of our sales considering the impact of Covid-19 during the months of November and December," said club president Mr Ian Taylor.
"We donated some $225 of cakes and puddings to local charities
"We will now be able to disburse these monies to our many locally-supported organisations over the next few months.
"These fund were so vital to our club as we have not been able to hold our monthly car boot sales and the annual June long weekend Tea Cosy event since February last year when Covid sent us all into lock down.
"We are coming back for our car boot sale on February 28 and the Tea Cosy will be on the long weekend in June."
He said many local pharmacies, banks and other local businesses had helped with the sales.
The club set up a stall in Deepwater Plaza for three days during November and December and the sales from these days also far exceeded expectations, he said.
