Fire brigade holds 'relay training'

The Patonga Fire Brigade held "relay training" recently at one of its evening meetings.

The members involved in the training were: senior deputy captain Matt Hauser, deputy captain Justin Zwan, Anita MacArthur, James Brien, Josh Davis, Brady Baker, Sarah Osbourn, Jake Zwan, Brad Sharp and Nicole Bergan.

"We were relaying water from the large Cat 1 tanker to the small Cat 9 4x4 tanker," said Ms Bergan.

"This is often required due to the size difference in the trucks and the access difficulties that can be faced with the large tanker.

"The relay can be a juggling act of making sure the tankers are running the right pressure so as not to damage the pumps or other equipment."

The brigade meets on a Tuesday night from about 6pm.
