Service NSW kiosk to close, says Tesch

The digital-pop up Service NSW kiosk that has been operating in the Deepwater Plaza at Woy Woy since March will close in September, according to the Member for Gosford, Ms Liesl Tesch.

Woy Woy lost its Motor Registry Office and Peninsula residents were told to drive to Gosford or Erina to renew registration and licences.

The Deepwater Plaza kiosk was an attempt by the NSW Government to appease community anger at the loss of its services.

However, according to Ms Tesch, Service NSW have stated the kiosk was only ever designed as a temporary measure to educate the community about how to use online services.

"The joke is the kiosk will close in September and Service NSW will operate pop-up offices in the Peninsula's libraries," Ms Tesch said.

She said she did not believe the Deepwater Plaza location had been adequately promoted to the community.

"People are not using it because it doesn't meet their needs,' she said.

"You can pay your registration and do other internet transactions but you can't have a photo taken or sit a test so you still need to go to Erina or Gosford to complete your business and that can be a big trip if you are elderly, disabled, on a low income or have a restricted licence," she said.

Ms Tesch said she had met with NSW RMS to explain that the pop-up or kiosk was not what the Peninsula community needed.

She said she would continue to campaign for the Peninsula to have its own, fully equipped Service NSW office.
