Call for parents to teach ethics

Woy Woy Public School is seeking expressions of interest from parents and carers who are interested in teaching ethics lessons.

Ethics classes are taught by volunteer ethics teachers to students from Kindergarten to Year 6, who have opted out of scripture.

Parents and carers who would like their child to learn these lifelong skills should consider participating in the program so the school can offer it to students, according to acting principal Mr Dan Betts..

The classes would be held between 9-9:30am for Years 3-6 and 9:30-10am for years K-2 each Wednesday.

An ethics teacher facilitates a conversation between the students about a topic in the curriculum.

The curriculum is already written.

As a volunteer teacher, you would be provided with a script, activities and stories.

All lesson plans and materials are provided by Primary Ethics, so you don't need to create your own lessons.

You don't need to be a traditionally qualified teacher.

Ethics teachers receive full training through online modules and a comprehensive two-day training course.
