Money raised for missionary

St John the Baptist Primary School raised $640 for a South African missionary as part of its St Patrick's Day celebrations on March 17.

The fundraising event was organised by Ms Helen Crawford and the school's Mini Vinnies group.

"The children were encouraged to come to school wearing green and contribute a gold coin donation," P&F publicity officer Ms Stacey Saul said.

"Staff and students were entertained with an Irish dancing performance by Year 4 student Lauren Magro and many fun games were also organised.

"The school canteen sold ice-cream cones with green sprinkles as part of the fun.

"A total of $640 was raised and this money was given to missionary Pat Slattery.

"Ms Slattery shared her missionary experiences with the students in Years 2 to 6 and will be personally delivering the money next month to the people of Limpopo in South Africa."
