Learn from history
It's an old saying that we learn nothing from history, and it seems some of the Gosford councillors know this and want wards back in the Gosford area.
In 1977, Local Government minister Mr Harry Jensen abolished ridings in Gosford after a damning report from the town clerk Mr BG Pratt and a campaign from the ALP candidates.
Also, a referendum to re-install wards was rejected by voters in the 90s.
Why? Because wards are unfair and encourage parochialism and ward heelers as candidates.
That's why.
