Order on Council shows no respect for democracy
The NSW Government's rushed Performance Improvement Order on Central Coast Council shows no respect for democracy and the residents of the Central Coast.
The order, which changed the future of the local government area and councillor authority, was made without announcement two weeks after postal voting had started and just before pre-poll voting opened.
I submitted a postal vote that is based on the political climate prior to the order.
Many would have voted without any knowledge of its existence or implications.
Polling centre staff were unable to advise me how I could withdraw my postal vote and re-cast it.
Democracy has been downgraded by the NSW State Government and overlooked in the rushed action immediately before the election forcibly imposed on the unsuspecting public.
