Poets support cultural initiative

The Central Coast Poets are strongly supporting Gosford Council's Cultural Laboratory initiative, according to Ms Margaret Metz.

Ms Metz said the group held a reading from its Henry Kendall award national poetry anthology entitled Suburbs of the Mind at the last event held at the Peninsula Theatre at Woy Woy.

Ms Metz said the Central Coast Poets would be presenting a reading of its own members' poems at the next event, again to be held at the Peninsula Theatre on June 24.

This time the readings would also involve button accordion player Owen Roberts, and would benefit from voice and presentation coaching.

"The idea behind the Cultural Laboratory is to bring together the disparate and dislocated parts of the community so that there is a cross-fertilisation between the various art forms."

The Central Coast Poets has organised its performance around the theme of Tidal Dance, bringing together the imagery of the beaches with the rhythms of poetry and dance.

Ms Metz said readers on the night would include Kelly Blaney-Murphy, Andrea Cook and Shirley Hotchkiss, who are all experienced poetry readers.
