Older Women hold annual Christmas raffle

The Deepwater Older Women's Network will hold its annual Monster Christmas Raffle on Wednesday and Thursday, December 11 and 12, and on Saturday, December 14, to raise money for three local food pantries.

Raffle tickets will be sold adjacent to KMart in Deepwater Plaza on Wednesday and Thursday and outside Stephenson's Real Estate in West St, Umina, on Saturday.

"All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to our three local food pantries," said Network secretary Ms Jennifer Brown.

They are Mary Mac's Place, the Woy Woy Community Food Pantry at the Seventh Day Adventist Church and Community SOS at the Peninsula Community Centre.

First prize includes a paddle board, body boards and beach equipment.

Second prize is a variety of vouchers with a value of more than $2500.

Third prize is a homewares box and two baskets of luxury items donated by local pharmacies.

"Please come and buy some tickets and help us support those in our community who have very little at Christmas," said Ms Brown.

Ms Brown said the Network also donated to Allawah House, a 14-room refuge in East Gosford housing older women in the community escaping domestic and family violence.

Recently, it had also made donations to the Ettalong 50+ Leisure and Learning Centre "which provides a safe environment for seniors to learn new skills, engage in exercise, playing cards, learning to dance or just getting together for a nice hot lunch or cuppa at an affordable price".
