Rotary stall 'a great success'
The Rotary Club of Woy Woy says its decision to have a stall in a local shopping centre has proved "a great success".
"The Friday Deepwater Plaza experiment started on November 15 and was a great success, with three crews taking shifts throughout the day," said club president Mr Tom McCann.
"We handed out almost all the brochures, talked to many people, collected donations of $180 and generally had a good time.
The second one on November 29 was reported to be "quite busy" with four members representing the club to interested passersby.
"While only 30 brochures were handed out during the day, that coincided with a number of meaningful conversations with people who expressed genuine interest in volunteering to help with some of our community activities.
"While this is still early days, conversations like those show the potential to the club of maintaining a regular and accessible presence in the community."
The next "kiosk" will be held on Friday, December 13.
