Students take part in pilot program
Students from Year 6H at Ettalong Public School have been part of a pilot program called Gamification.
The program of workshops is being presented to Year 7 and 8 students at Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina campus and Year 6 students at Ettalong Public School.
The workshops allowed students to role-play as teams of earth scientists.
"They explored the rock cycle, from ore to export, in a 'gamified' learning environment," said Ettalong Public School principal Ms Jodie Campbell.
"This approach sparked excitement and engagement while teaching key earth science concepts.
"The workshops not only enhanced students' understanding of earth sciences but also contributed to the development of STEM skills, preparing them for future success in an ever-evolving world.
"By bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry applications, the workshops provided students with a unique opportunity to visualise potential future careers in the context of real-world scenarios."
