Group offers help to plant more trees
The Grow Urban Shade Trees group is asking residents to plant more trees and is offering help to choose, plant and protect them.
The voluntary group comprises five women and their supporters.
"We fit our work in among our 'real' jobs and family commitments," said group member Ms Michelle Chandler.
"We research and plant trees, but we also write letters and speak to politicians, decision-makers and the press to raise awareness of issues around tree-loss and tree strategies and programs.
"We source our trees from a trusted local nursery.
"And we source small trees from organisations such as the Community Environment Network and nurture them until they are ready to plant.
"We can also help you plant your own tree, and place it correctly.
"Our goal is to help all residents contribute to a cooler and greener Central Coast, now and in the future.
"Every tree counts."
