Arts grants close at month's end

Applications for a 2019 Bouddi Foundation for the Arts grant close at the end of May.

"May 31 is the last day to submit a proposal for this year's grants up to $5000," said organiser Ms Joy Park.

Ms Park said the Foundation was eager to hear from Peninsula based artists aged 15-25, as well as artists from across the Central Coast, and urged any young artists interested in a career in the arts to send in a proposal.

"Proposals should outline how a grant would help the artist further their career in their chosen field and covers the spectrum of visual arts, photography, sculpture, painting, ceramics, performing arts, classical or contemporary instrumental or vocal music, including song writing, acting, or musical theatre and dance; aboriginal arts, electronic arts, literature, and more," Ms Park said.

"The Foundation has awarded over $150,000 over the last seven years.

Joy Park, Bouddi Foundation for the Arts "The grants have profoundly shaped the careers of many young artists of which painter Jordan Richardson and flautist Alyse Faith are but two examples," Ms Park said. Mr Richardson's recent portrait of political journalist, commentator and TV host Ms Annabel Crabb, earned him selection as a finalist in the 2019 Archibald Prize, marking his third time as a finalist. "The support from the Foundation has been a tremendous asset. "From the initial grants to mentorship and exhibition opportunities, my relationship with the Foundation is something I cherish," Mr Richardson said. Flautist Ms Alyse Faith, is currently studying towards a Master's at the Royal College of Music in London. "Her studies are interwoven with opportunities to play significant musical roles with British orchestras and ensembles, gaining world-class exposure and experiences. "Alyse wrote recently to us thanking Foundation and the Bouddi Society," Ms Park said.
