Community support grants approved

Two applications for Community Support Grants have been approved for the Peninsula by Central Coast Council.

The Bays Community Group received $719.72 as a subsidy for rates on the community hall and the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce received $4849 for the Brisbane Water Oyster Festival.

The council granted a total of $72,000 for 22 projects across the region.

The Peninsula grants amounted to just over seven per cent of the value of these for an area with about 10 per cent of the region's population.

Mayor Cr Jane Smith said: "These grants are being given to organisations and volunteers who provide services to many different groups across our population."

The grant program is open throughout the year and provides grants of up to $5000 per project, she said.
