Democracy is fragile
There are many people who do care about our democracy.
The fact is that they get driven into the ground.
Anybody writing a letter to councillors or ministers may receive a reply in about three months.
These replies are usually full of gobbledygook or dross and never answer the questions asked.
The aim seems to be to keep these troublemakers quiet and wear them out until they give up.
It reminds me of parents and children, where the parents make plans behind closed doors while the children (in this case the public) are kept in the dark and amused by festivals, fireworks and shopping malls.
I find it sad to think that some of our fellow Australians are giving their lives in order to spread this so called democracy, because it certainly is not my idea of democracy. Democracy is a fragile concept.
If leaders continue to desecrate it, the general public loses confidence, then we will be no better than Fiji, Myanmar and Egypt.
The choice is ours.
