Be alert and write
It is not surprising that the Total Environment Centre has called on the State Government, to make changes to the Local Government Act, to prevent developers from controlling local councils.
As Ms Kelly said, "The potential for corruption, especially on the lucrative coast, is huge and getting bigger."
I wonder how many people remember the promises made to us on the Central Coast.
Consultation with the Community and Concern for the Environment are just two which spring to mind.
Here on the Peninsula, the views of the ordinary people are completely disregarded and damage to the environment is achieved surreptitiously, by which time it is too late to do anything about it.
We must be alert and write to the papers and our local members, before we lose all that we value on the Peninsula.
Otherwise our children will wonder why they are living in a concrete jungle with all its associated problems.
One can only presume that when our council has completed its high-rise development along the front at Ettalong, they will rename Ocean View Rd.
Isn't it sad?
