Double bill at next folk club concert
The Troubadour Folk will present Melbourne singer-songwriter Bruce Watson and the Paper Collar Pickers from WA at its next concert at 2pm on Sunday, July 27, at the Everglades Country club.
"The Paper Collar Pickers play fingerpicking guitar music of high quality," said club president Mr Michael Fine.
"Rod Vervest is a seasoned fingerstyle acoustic guitarist, while Craig Sinclair is an award-winning singer-songwriter, guitarist and dobro player," he said.
"Together, this duo creates truly beautiful music in the style of such greats as Tommy Emanual, Chet Aitkins, Ry Cooder and Leon Redbone.
"Their debut album, Peddling Rag, recorded in the Blue Mountains, will be available.
The second half of the afternoon will see Bruce Watson take the stage.
Over the last 30 years he has appeared at almost 200 folk festivals across this land.
Many of his original songs have been recorded by artists such as Eric Bogle, Joe Dolce and other Australian and international acts.
"His keen sense of humour carefully captures the absurdities of life," said Mr Fine.
"A concern for people, the environment, reconciliation and for life's mysteries and ironies runs through his songs."
Both folk club members and non-members are welcome.
Bookings are essential and can be made via the Troubadour website www.troubadour.org.au.
