New verandah pavilion officially opened at arboretum
The Pearl Beach Arboretum has officially opened its new verandah pavilion at its annual anniversary picnic yesterday, Sunday, August 18.
"Every year in August we celebrate the founding of the Crommelin Native Arboretum at Pearl Beach in 1976," said Arboretum secretary Ms Mary Knaggs.
"The Pearl Beach Arboretum we all love today has been created and managed entirely by community volunteers on land owned by Central Coast Council.
"The Arboretum has had many generous donations and grants over the years from private individuals and entities and from government agencies.
"We are very grateful to grants from the NSW Government and the Bendigo Bank branch, which, together with private donations. have helped us create our new verandah pavilion which can be used for environmental education and community events."
