Seven rescue tubes installed on unpatrolled beaches
Seven "rescue tubes" have been installed on unpatrolled Peninsula beaches.
They have been installed at Ettalong Beach, at Ettalong Point, adjacent to the Esplanade at Ettalong, at Kiddies' Corner in Umina, at the north and south ends of Pearl Beach and at Patonga.
Ocean Beach Surf Life Saving Club has advised: "We can't emphasise enough that if you are not a strong swimmer, these will not make you one.
"Please don't enter the water if you're not capable.
"But if you are, grabbing this before you go in could save two lives.
"Instructions for use are on the tube box.
"The beach is for everyone and we want everyone to be safe.
"Please always swim in a safe area.
"Even calm waters can be deceiving with rips and strong currents.
"Remember to always call 000 in an emergency."
The rescue tubes were installed by Surf Life Saving Central Coast, funded by a Central Coast Council community grant.
