Council officially completes recreation precinct
Central Coast Council has officially completed its "Peninsula Recreation and Active Lifestyle Precinct" at Umina, including the new regional skate park and BMX tracks.
Council's Administrator Mr Rik Hart was joined by Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid and members of the Umina Community Group for the opening.
Mr Hart said the new regional skatepark was designed for a broad range of wheeled sports and riding abilities, with a unique advanced deep bowl, mini beginner bowl and street elements.
"The new BMX tracks have a high-quality asphalt finish surface for range of abilities and wheels.
"A full-size basketball has been installed with flood lights.
"A new play area has two colourful bouldering climbing units."
New park furniture, shelters and a water refill station had been installed, with pathways and landscaping.
"Two new sports amenities buildings at Umina Oval offer significantly-improved facilities to service local rugby, soccer and cricket sporting groups."
A new fustal court had been installed at Umina Tennis Courts with building improvements.
He said the project was funded by the Australian Government with $8.25 million from the Community Development Grants Program, $1.55 million from Central Coast Council and a $50,000 contribution from Umina Community Group.
