Public education awards for appreciation presented

Regional North Public Education Awards of Appreciation have been presented to 12 people from five Peninsula schools.

At Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina campus, Ms Eliza Cummins, Mr Joshua Ford, Ms Nicole Dargan, Ms Beck Johnson and Ms Renae Jackson received awards.

Ms Cummins was recognised for her contribution to Dance and PDHPE students as

well as her leadership in Central Coast Dance Festival.

Mr Ford was recognised for building the capacity of students and staff in PDHPE as well as leading excellence and equity in the sporting arena.

Ms Dargan was recognised for her advocacy and support for vulnerable students, and for differentiating the curriculum so students can access the learning for her empathy.

Ms Johnson from the Regional Youth Support Service was recognised for providing individualised support through programs that make a difference to the lives of young

people.

Ms Jackson from the Police and Citizens Youth Centre was recognised for transforming many young lives and her dedication to making the world a better and safer place for young people.

At Umina Beach Public School, Ms Sarah Honeyman and Ms Janette Taylor were honoured for their outstanding commitment and dedication to the school.

At Woy Woy Public School, Ms Michelle Pathirana was recognised for her dedication, care and support for children with significant disabilities and their families.

At Woy Woy campus of Brisbane Water Secondary College, Ms Rania Fayad, Mr James Guthrie and Ms Mariel Williamson received awards.

Parents and Citizens' secretary Ms Fayad received an award for her passion and dedication.

Her citation praised her as a gold-class parent advocate and a true champion of the college and Public Education.

Mr Guthrie was recognised for exemplary collaborative leadership and passion for science, achieving growth and improvement through inquiry.

English head teacher Ms Williamson recognised her role in leading cultural change and fostering high expectations and a passion for public education.

At Woy Woy South Public School, Ms Sienna McLoughlin and Ms Jessica Bradbury were recognised for their ongoing dedication and commitment to their school and students.
