Artist was commended
Woy Woy resident Ms Fiona White has been awarded a "highly commended" prize in the Sunshine Coast Art Prize held on Thursday, July 21, with her acrylic painting In Your Arms.
"After watching classic Hollywood movies I thought I would transfer those old films into a painting," said Ms White.
Judge Ms Maura Reilly said Ms White's "stylised portrait painting was hard to resist".
"The large, bold work featured an amorous black couple, depicted in an almost cartoon-like fashion, set before a brightly coloured suburban-scape.
"A fabulous image," said Ms Reilly.
