Umina oval to be closed

Gosford Council plans to close Umina oval for a month, according to Umina Public School principal Mr John Blair.

"Changes to the school's playground arrangements have become necessary for the remainder of this term." Mr Blair said.

"Council has advised that Umina oval is to be closed for about one month while renovations to the playing surface take place."

Mr Blair said students in kindergarten and Stage 1 would now play only on the infants' playground and the integrated area.

Students in Stage 2 and 3 would have the primary playground, the integrated area and the reserve area (adjacent to the school) on a roster basis.

"All areas will be supervised by teachers during recess and lunch breaks," Mr Blair said.

"Playground equipment in both of the school's playgrounds will be utilised on a roster basis as well."
