Arboretum pavilion opening was well-attended

The opening of the new verandah pavilion at the Crommelin Native Arboretum at Pearl Beach was well attended, according to Arboretum secretary Ms Mary Knaggs.

"We didn't have to worry too much about the weather as we all fitted under cover of the new verandah pavilion.

"Every August we celebrate the founding of the arboretum in 1976 with an anniversary picnic.

"This year this coincided with the completion of our new verandah pavilion, so we used this event to officially open it and use it for the first time."

She said the arboretum committee wanted to thank the NSW Government and the Ettalong branch of the Bendigo Bank for grants to help make it possible.

"Unfortunately Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch was not able to attend but Bendigo Bank manager Mr Pat Italiano was."
